Let’s say we have 3 pieces of paper on the table with different names on..

We want to “force” someone to pick one of these names but we want to make it seem like they have a completely free choice.

Let’s say in this case, we want to “force” the selection of the name COLIN on someone.

Before you start, you can make a secret prediction on another piece of paper and write the sentence “You will choose the name COLIN”.

Fold this up and give it to your spectator and ask them not to look at it until the end.

Now you point to the 3 pieces of paper on the table and say “Pick up any 2 pieces of paper and hand them to me”.

So now we have 2 possible outcomes..

1: They can either pick up the name Colin and another name.

2: They can pick up the other 2 pieces and leave Colin on the table..

OUTCOME 1: If they pick up both other names and leave Colin on the table, you say..

“Whichever name we are left with is the one we will use”.

Tell them to open the piece of paper you previously gave them and we have a miracle!

OUTCOME 2: If they pick up the name Colin and and any another one of they 2, tell them that we are now going to discard the one left on the table as they have chosen just these 2 names…

Then say..

“OK, we have 2 left, out of these 2, which one are you going to choose?”

If they pick Colin – tell them to open your prediction and we have a Miracle!

If they pick the other name you say..

“OK so I’m going to eliminate this one also, now we are left with our final selection… Colin”

Then ask them to open your prediction and we have a miracle!

So basically we are working on the process of elimination – Very powerful stuff when performed well.
